Rachel Nguyen grew up in San Jose, California, in a family of engineers, an environment that gave her early comfort with systems thinking and technical problem-solving. She studied Computer Science and Information Systems at UC Davis, graduating in 2010, before pivoting toward digital marketing.

Her first role was as a junior web developer at a Sacramento-based e-commerce startup, where she spent two years building and maintaining product pages. In 2012, she joined a regional digital agency in San Francisco as their first dedicated technical SEO hire.
